If you’ve a Coventry kid and you’d like to leave a legacy for children in the city, would you be kind enough to consider the Coventry Children’s Boot Fund.
We provide properly fitted shoes for children at schools in the city where their families can’t afford them.
Last year we bought nearly 600 pairs of shoes and the demand is growing. Typically a pair of well-fitting shoes cost around £50 a pair. For a teenager it would be £70 and more.
So, what do these shoes do? Well, a lot more than you would think.
- They help children’s self-esteem. No child wants to be seen in shoes which are shabby and worn. They don’t want to join in and not be left out in the playground.
- They help children concentrate in class. Ask any teacher and they will tell you about children in their class because their shoes are too small, but their families can’t buy the next size up.
- They provide shoes children can be sure won’t let in the rain and snow in the bad weather.
The shoes are fitted at an independent shoe shop in the city by trained fitters which mean they’ll be comfortable and hard wearing.
